FIRE ADVISORY EFFECTIVE SANDY BEACH & LSAC April 14 at 11am

April 14 2025

Lac Ste. Anne County Fire Services is issuing a County wide FIRE ADVISORY effective 11:00 today.  Long term forecast shows limited moisture with increasing temperatures.  Reducing relative humidity, with winds and increased temperature over time will increase hazard across the County without moisture received. This ADVISORY is an indication further restrictions may be forthcoming.

Guardians, please contact your permittees to update them on this new status.  Inform permittees more frequent monitoring will be required on all outstanding permits, permittees will need to provide you with assurance of extinguishing methods, whether that be water or heavy equipment.  Permittees must be informed the temperature is expected to warm significantly over the next 10 days. It is necessary for all winter burn areas to be thoroughly checked.

Sustained afternoon winds over this past weekend averaged 35 km/hr heightening initial spread indexes in light grassy fuels between 1:00 pm and 6 pm daily.  These conditions are expected to persist until further moisture is received.

No further permits for large burns will be issued effective today, permits for smaller burns with adequate control measures definitively in place maybe considered with caution, restrict burning to mornings or evenings.  This advisory will be in place until temperatures moderate and adequate moisture is received.

Campfires in acceptable pits, woodfired appliances, or small permitted open burning are STILL ALLOWED with adequate monitoring in place.

Fireworks during a FIRE ADVISORY, FIRE RESTRICTION or FIRE BAN are prohibited.

Public messaging will occur over the next 24 hours with Website, Social media, Radio, and www.albertafirebans.ca updated status.

If you have any questions please let me know.
