March 28 2025May 2025
This year tax notices are likely to be mailed by March 9. Property taxes are due June 30 2025 at midnight. A 6% penalty will be applied on current year outstanding starting July 1 and continuing monthly on the 1st till Dec 1 2025. On Jan 1 2026 a 12% penalty will be applied on ALL outstanding taxes. Interac email payments for taxes are preferred method of payment whether you are paying the full amount or increments or catching up. Email Interac the monies to svsandyb@xplornet.ca (stating which property and leave a return email) - receipts svsandyb@xplornet.ca
You can also mail a cheque (make sure its dated and signed and have the amount written in) or cash in office (not preferred) Mon to Wed between 9am and 11am.
No card payments are accepted.
For those on TPP monthly plan you just continue as normal 1st of every month - your tax notice 2025 will show your new amount and this program is direct debit only and you must sign on by January 15 of current year - no exceptions and no late enrollments.
For those in severe arrears or tax sale recovery do NOT send cheques (it will be returned) instead make Interac email payments as you can afford it. This will not necessary relieve you from the tax sale process - make sure you contact Taxervice directly to discuss your options (they will write you in anyway) do NOT ignore or discard it.
For those of you with financial challenges - all banks also offer options on tax payments and you should likely source a paying option through your bank or mortgage company.
ALSO Please remember that if the municipality does not collect 90% of their tax requirements it triggers a indicator with the Provincial Government that comes back in report form to the municipality and Council - in the past SVSB had residents (not property owners or tax payers just residents) alert Council of these indicators at council meetings - so REMEMBER this is the reason why the tax recovery process is important. You are not being targeted - its regulated.
